Training in Fort Collins Temple

We served the 3rd Tuesday evening and 3rd Wednesday morning shifts each month, after being called in Dec. 2018.  Then, near the end, we also helped on some Spanish sessions on Saturday.

Dear Elder and Sister Weatherford,

We are excited for the opportunity to work with you in preparation for your mission! This email contains important information for your tutoring experience. Please save it for future reference. As you begin language tutoring with the MTC, we ask that you complete the following steps:

1. Watch the Materials Tutorial Video
The MTC materials are available online through a website called “TALL Arc.” We ask that you familiarize yourself with these materials by clicking on the link below to watch a video tutorial that explains how to use and access the different resources.

2. Visit the Language Materials Website (TALL Arc)
Once you have watched the video, please visit the materials website by clicking the orange button below. Sign in with your LDS username and password, and then click “Use LDS Account.” Please save the TALL Arc site as a favorite or a bookmark (click here if you need helping making a bookmark). It works best to use Google Chrome as your internet browser.

3. Download MTC Language apps
Embark is a vocabulary building application and TALL Drill is a flashcard application. Both are developed by the MTC and focus on gospel terminology.

Using Zoom for Lessons
Each tutor has their own personal link for their lessons with you. Your tutor will share this personal link with you. At the scheduled day and time for your lesson, simply launch zoom (you do not need to sign in), click “join” and enter your tutor’s personal link or code. You will then be joined to the virtual meeting room and can wait for the tutor. If you do not hear from anyone within a couple of minutes, feel free to contact your tutor or our office (801-422-1129).

Note: Ordering Physical Language Learning Materials
You may also order physical language learning materials through the MTC Bookstore. If this is an option that interests you, we suggest waiting until you are assigned a tutor, discussing with them which materials would best suit your language learning needs, and then contacting the bookstore at 801.422.3897 to order them.

“Before you being tutoring, please also read the attached document entitled “MTC Video Call Guidelines & Expectations”. This document outlines practices to help ensure you have a great tutoring experience with us. Your tutor may review and follow up with these guidelines and can answer any questions you may have.”

If you have any questions or run into any problems, please feel free to contact us at the information below.

Thanks!

Mission Call

We did all our interviews, medical and dental appointments, shots, etc. and then we sent in our 40 page application shortly after April General Conference.

Wow! We received the call on May 21, after some negotiating on Epipens.

Dear Sister,
Thank you for your desire to serve. You can view your mission call by signing into missionary.lds.org with your LDS Account. After reading your call letter, it is important that you scroll to the bottom of the screen and select "Continue" to see additional critical information.
Do not reply to this message. For questions or concerns, please contact your bishop or branch president.

We were serving in the Fort Collins Temple at the time, and we opened the call as soon as we arrived at our hotel and changed to serve in the temple. We were SOOO excited!

We took Jenny by the Provo MTC so she could take the "classic" pic--we were very sad that on Jan. 1, 2019 they closed the Senior Couples MTC and Temple Training seminar in the SLC Temple!

By a small miracle, we got our visas just in time
